How to Add a 3.5 Hard Drive to a Dell Latitude Laptop

    • 1). Connect the provided USB cable into the back of the external hard drive and plug the other end into an available USB port on the Dell Latitude laptop.

    • 2). Insert the power cord into the back of the external 3.5 hard drive and plug it into a power outlet. Power on the device, and in a moment the Dell Latitude laptop will signify it has detected new hardware.

    • 3). Insert the 3.5 hard drive installation disc into your laptop. This disc will install the drivers onto the computer and will ensure the hard drive functions properly. The driver installation wizard will launch soon after you insert the disc.

    • 4). Accept the license agreement by reading through it and checking of the "Accept" box. You will not be allowed to install the drivers without accepting.

    • 5). Follow the remaining prompts, and the drivers will be installed, allowing you to use your newly installed 3.5 hard drive on your Dell Latitude laptop.
