How to Care for a Friendship Lily
- 1). Place your friendship lily in a bright spot that is indirectly lit by sunlight. Placing the lily in direct sunlight can burn the flowers and leaves. The windowsill of a bathroom is an ideal space because the lilies thrive in humid areas.
- 2). Water your lily frequently using a small amount of water. The plant likes to have moist, well-drained soil. Try placing the pot on top of a tray of small pebbles or gravel. Do not let your friendship lily sit in a tray of water. The leaves and flowers will wilt when it is thirsty. Water immediately if this happens. Try to monitor when the plant seems dry and get on a schedule of watering it regularly.
- 3). Keep the leaves clean. Wipe the leaves often with a damp cloth. Dust tends to settle on friendship lilies. The leaves absorb the water in the air and cannot properly do so if covered in dust. Once a week, mist the leaves with warm water.
- 4). Fertilize the friendship lily with a mild, organic fertilizer. Too much fertilizer will burn the plant. Apply a diluted liquid fertilizer once a month through the spring and summer seasons.
