Getting Out Dry-Erase Marker Stains

    Dry Erase Markers

    • Dry erase markers are made with an oily silicone polymer. The oily consistency prevents the colored pigment from absorbing into surfaces. If allowed to set, however, the oil evaporates and you're left with a permanent stain.

    Treating Fabrics

    • Dampen the stain with water. Spray a liberal amount of dry erase board cleaner on the spot. Let the cleaner work 3 to 5 minutes. Blot the stain with a clean, dry paper towel. If the spot is still there, repeat the steps again. After two treatments, the spot should be gone, or at least faded enough to wash.

    Household Stains

    • Dry erase stains on walls, floors, and cabinets are horrifying, but the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works wonders for removing household stains. Dampen the sponge and squeeze out the excess water. Wipe in single-direction strokes to gently remove stains from tile, grout, cabinets and walls.
