If you're trying to think of a character to dress up as this Halloween but want something that isn't so common, you could go with the Queen of Hearts from the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland.
Not many people think of dressing up as the minor characters from tales, so it would be pretty unique and putting together the costume wouldn't take too much either.
The base of the dress could be an old white dress be it a wedding dress or one from last prom.
If you don't have it in white, something in pink will do too.
Lay the dress down on a clean work surface and get ready to make changes to that simple dress! If it's too long, make the alterations first and only then do you start working on it.
Get some satin material in either red or white, using the opposite color of your dress and cut out little hearts from it.
The cut-out shapes doesn't have to be super neat as the little flaws are what makes homemade costumes personal and unique.
Once you've cut out a handful of hearts place them on the dress, lining them down the middle and one on each sleeve.
If you're happy with the placement only then do you stitch them into place.
Of course you can use the shortcuts and just use some sticky tape too.
You can add little rhinestones or silver beads here and there for that glittering effect as well.
For the shoes, just grab any old pair and spray paint them with some glitter paint to give it that rich color and dig up a crown and place it on your head and you're done! It's really as simple as that.
Use subtle make up to complete the look and add touches of glitter to your cheeks and you've taken on the character of the Queen of Hearts.
