- 1). Open the Desktop Icon Settings dialog box by clicking "Start," selecting "Control Panel," clicking "Appearance and Personalization," choosing "Personalization," and then clicking the "Change desktop icons" button in the left pane.
- 2). Click to select the desired desktop icon you wish to restore (e.g. "Computer" or "Recycle Bin"), and then click "Restore Default." Repeat as necessary for any other icons you wish to restore.
- 3). Click "Apply" and "OK" to save your changes and exit the dialog box.
