How to Set up an Anonymous Proxy Server

    Find an Anonymous Proxy Server

    • 1). Navigate to the Digital Cybersoft website at digitalcybersoft.com (see Resources). This website lists free anonymous proxy servers.

    • 2). Click on the "Fresh Proxy" list on the site's left-hand column. A list of available proxy servers will appear on a new page.

    • 3). Select "Anonymous" from the "Proxies by Type" options.

    • 4). Choose an anonymous proxy server from the list. Record the numerical IP address and the four-digit port number at the end of the address.

    Internet Explorer

    • 1). Open your Internet Explorer browser. Click on "Tools" and choose "Internet Options" from the drop-down menu.

    • 2). Click on the "Connections" tab. Click on the "LAN Settings" button.

    • 3). Click on "Use a proxy server for your LAN."

    • 4). Select the "Advanced" button.

    • 5). Enter the IP address of the anonymous proxy server into the "HTTP" box. Type the proxy server's port number into the "Port" box.

    • 6). Click on "OK" to confirm your proxy server settings. Select "OK" in the Local Area Network box to confirm your LAN settings. Click on "Apply" in the Internet Options box to save all your settings.

    Mozilla Firefox

    • 1). Open your Mozilla Firefox browser. Click on "Tools" and choose "Options" from the drop-down menu.

    • 2). Click on the "Advanced" tab. Select the "Network" tab on the top left. Click on the "Settings" button.

    • 3). Click on "Manual proxy configuration." Enter the proxy server's IP address in the "HTTP Proxy" box. Enter the proxy server's port number in the "Port" box.

    • 4). Select "OK" to confirm your proxy server settings. Click on "Apply" in the Options window to save your settings.
