With so much to see and do, the South of France attracts millions of visitors each year. Travellers should definitely consider short term villa/apartment rentals as an alternative to other accommodation options. Short term can be as few as several days or up to months as a stretch. If you need to get away for a while, then having the convenience of a home base in luxury villas in the South of France with its own modern and/or upscale facilities is a good idea.

The South of France has diverse landscapes, varying from snow-covered peaks of the Pyrenees with winter resorts to lush river valleys, vine-covered hills and stunning coastlines. This amazing countryside is dotted with medieval villages, castles and Roman ruins and all easily accessible by a great network of roadways.

The range of holiday rental homes is as diverse as the landscapes, and the desires of the people wanting to rent. The South of France is a colourful countryside with everything available from log chalets in the Alps, Chateaux in the countryside and luxury villa rentals on the Riviera €¦ plus everything in between.

Many of the rental properties are privately owned and can be rented by the week or the month. European investors are buying into the lucrative South of France real estate market, with the English and local French buying a holiday home and renting it out when not using it themselves. Surprisingly though, Australian investors are buying up, possibly due to their strong economy over the last couple of years.

Luxury villa rentals have the benefit of really being able to relax and enjoy your time by coming home to the same setting each day. Being able to cook your own meals, not only saves money, but is a good excuse to venture to the local markets and shops to buy fresh local produce and mingle with the locals.

A few of the larger towns would make good holiday bases depending on your interests. Below a few are listed with very different characteristics and attractions.
