How to Change a Brake Light on a C4 Corvette
- 1). Remove the two Phillips head screws from the brake light lens cover.
- 2). Pull the lens cover away from the tail light panel. Set it aside on a soft surface because the lens scratches easily.
- 3). Push in the bad brake light bulb. Twist it counterclockwise to disconnect it from the socket.
- 4). Insert the new brake light bulb while wearing gloves. Twist it clockwise to secure it to the socket.
- 5). Re-position the lens cover. Push it in firmly to secure it, and then tighten the two screws.
- 1). Remove the license plate from your Corvette. Some license plates are attached by standard screws; others are attached by bolts. A socket wrench or pliers may be required.
- 2). Reach inside the access hole behind the license plate. Find the brake light bulb. Twist the bulb counterclockwise to release it and the socket from the mount.
- 3). Pull the bulb and socket down through the access hole. Push the old bulb into the socket. Turn it counterclockwise to release it from the socket.
- 4). Insert the new bulb while wearing gloves. Push the new bulb down and turn it clockwise to secure it.
- 5). Carefully route the new bulb and socket through the access hole. Insert it into the mount; turn it clockwise to secure it. Replace the license plate.
