- 1). Pour your use motor oil into a container, such as a gallon milk jug or a cleaned out bleach bottle. Make sure not to spill any oil during the pouring process. Screw the cap securely on to the bottle when it is full.
- 2). Take the used oil to a used oil collection facility. Most auto parts stores and automotive shops have used oil collection drums. Pour the oil in to the used oil drum.
- 3). Contact an oil recycling facility when the oil drum is completely full. There are many facilities across the nation that recycle used oil and will come to you to pick up the full oil drum for free.
