Have you ever wondered why it costs so much to have your favorite ride repaired or what is involved? With a few simple tips you can keep your ride running smooth.
My husband told me that if you take care of your car, it will take care of you.
1.
Using injector cleaner ever third tank.
Make sure you have a full tank of gas when you add it to your tank.
2.
Change the fuel filters about ever 3000 miles.
This will help water and dirt from getting into your injectors, and that could be a bad thing.
If the fuel filter gets stopped up, it will make the fuel pump work harder and eventually go out.
Then your out big money.
3.
Check air filter about the same (3000 miles or so) - This will make your engine run better and help on fuel economy.
4.
Change spark plugs every two years.
This keeps the cylinders dried out and you will get better gas mileage.
5.
Flush your radiator once a year.
Keeps your engine cooler and prevents wear and tear on the water pump and your heater coal, keeping your car from overheating.
6.
Oil changed as recommended because it cuts down on sludge and helps purify the oil in return making the oil pump work better.
7.
Also keeping proper air pressure in your tires will help in gas mileage and performance.
Rotate the tires as needed.
This keeps the tires to where they will wear more evenly, especially on a front wheel drive.
That is where all the weight is, on those two tires.
If you follow these steps, it will save you money in the long run.
These are just suggestions that I feel will help you keep your ride running smoother.
It's not a guarantee that things won't happen to your vehicle, because their machines and all machines sooner or later, can break down.
One additional tip for those who might want to help a stranded motorist: Since these new cars are computerized, I'd suggest that you do not jump start another car, because it could cause damage to the electrical system or your cars computer.
I highly recommend that you DO NOT do it; I know from experience that it can cause these type of problems to your car.
A jumper box or battery charger with a 200 amp jumper is your best bet.
