How to Replace a Power Steering Hose on a 2003 PT Cruiser
- 1). Release the hood lever on your PT Cruiser and lift up the hood. Find the power steering pump and hose. It is mounted near the driver's-side firewall.
- 2). Place your wrench over the securing nut on the output hose. Turn it to the left until it loose enough to slide the hose free. Slide the hose off the output stem. Remove the securing nut and clamp from the old hose and set it on the side.
- 3). Reach down to remove the securing nut at the bottom of the hose, which is attached to the power steering valve. Again, turn the securing nut to the left until it is loose enough to pull free. Slide the nut and clamp off the bottom of the old hose. Attach it to the bottom of the new hose and slip the end of the new hose onto the power steering valve. Tighten the securing nut by turning it snugly and firmly to the right.
- 4). Slip the other clamp and securing nut to the top section of the hose. Push the top section of the power steering hose onto the output stem. When it the hose is situated firmly on the stem, tighten the nut by turning it to the right.
