Internet marketing utilises various tools to promote products and their business.
A new trend has emerged: the utility of using social media as one important tool for internet marketing.
In this article, I will discuss having social media is the new business model.
For some, this is just a hype which they hope may fade away as soon as it started.
These traditional business models, where its a big corporate versus consumers; they are likely to fail in this new era.
There are a few subconscious thoughts that prevent us from stepping forward to meet the current demands of the marketplace that we must eliminate.
To change with modern times, and meeting the current customer expectations will allow success as an internet marketer.
Gone were the days when we knew everyone we met along the street.
But an inherent human trait remains where we like familiar faces; we are more likely to interact and even buy product from those we know.
We need to forget the impersonal business models.
People want to know our stories and our experiences.
They want to appreciate the fact that they are talking to a fellow human as well.
Social media allows this to happen.
So why is there this mental barrier to hide behind virtual walls? To be a dot com rather than a person who we can meet virtually, who wants to know us better and help us.
There is a shift in our preference as a customer.
There should therefore also be a shift in our internet marketing techniques.
Email marketing techniques still work.
But by default, emails from those we do not know becomes spam.
They get into the junk mail folder to be automatically deleted in one week.
Even if they appear in our inbox, we feel reluctant to accept correspondence from those we do not know.
But if you introduce yourself to them, and become someone they know, doors become unlocked and you are now a contact person.
Social media allows this to happen.
Look up Twitter, and you find people who go out there, add more contacts to meet other like minded people.
Sharing becomes a two way process.
Its no longer an interrogation of customers.
As an internet marketer, you also have to put out and let people know you.
Let them know why you want to help them, and you will be successful.
Get rid of this mental barrier, and step forward to share yourself and your profile to the world.
When you project a good image, your reputation grows and so will your business.
