I found out about this campground online, and I RV camped there in August 2009.
Describe your camping trip:
We got to the campground fairly late in the evening around 11 pm. We were given wrist bracelets to show that we were over 21. The first night was loud until around midnight and not completely quiet until well after 2 am. The second day was the worst however. The campground provides entertainment, which we knew about.
But what we didn't know was that this entertainment (a cover-playing rock band) was going to run from 8pm-midnight. Our campsite, unknowingly when making arraignments to stay here, just happened to be right in front of the stage. People walked through our campsite and used it to park their vehicles and as an outdoor bathroom. There was little to no security or protection. We felt very unsafe and always had an escort for the ladies in our group. In other words, unless you are looking for a frat-party type camping experience do not stay here. Also, do not go here if you are looking for some peace and quiet.
Pros: Free showers. Proximity to attractions.
Cons: Web site is extremely misleading. Owners were rude. Rock band played until midnight. Proximity of campsites to the live music/stage. We were about 50 feet from it. Campsites were not well kept, lots of dirt, very little grass for tent camping. Loud, disrespectful neighbors.
Nearby attractions: Johnson's Shut Ins State Park, Elephant Rocks State Park, Black River.
Comments: If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, nature-enjoying experience, go somewhere else.
