Religion - How Do You Perceive It?
According to Wikipedia, "A religion is a set of conducts resulted from tenets (or a belief system) about the ultimate power.
It is generally expressed as prayers, rituals, or other practices, often centered upon specific supernatural and moral claims about reality (the cosmos, and human nature) which may yield a set of religious laws.
Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and religious experience.
" We have made our life so busy and fast that we don't have time to think about what we are doing.
We have become mean minded and self-centered.
Our only aim is to earn money, have all the comforts of life and get recognition in the society.
In order to achieve these things we forget about those people who are badly affected by our selfish aspirations.
We don't value human life and rarely practice self-restraint.
Our greed has taken command over us.
We worship materialistic things and have developed addictions for them.
All over the world, people talk about their religion.
They impart education about their religion to others but how many of us really follow them.
We have manipulated whatever is written in our religious books for our comfort and rarely follow the righteous path but still boast of belonging to our religion.
What is the existence of religion? Religion is for human beings and has no meaning without humans.
It is to teach people the moral values to be followed in life and follow the righteous path.
The aim of any religion is to well educate the people and provide them with the ability to think rationally about the issues affecting the lives of living beings.
Every religion is good.
No religion teaches man to be cruel and work against humanity.
The problem is with us.
We can't interpret correctly what has been written in the sacred books and mould it according to our understanding.
Our sacred books help us to reach self-realization stage and make us understand who we are and what we are capable of.
It instills ethics in our life and provides us with a wider perspective to view the life.
It helps to removes evil thoughts and corrupt things from our life and gives us deeper insight into the human life.
As I mentioned earlier we don't value human life, religions help us understand the value of human life and we start loving it.
All over the world and even around us we can see people disgracing life, spreading hatred and segregating people on the basis of religion, caste, creed, color, sex and other factors.
These people are not at all religious even if they pray to god for hours in temples, churches or other similar places.
If they can't love humans who are the finest creation of god how can they love god? They openly disgrace god's creation and boast of being religious.
No, they aren't religious.
They are simply making fool of themselves and people believing them.
We need to understand different religions in a wider perspective.
Every religion is good that teaches man to be good.
No religion is bad.
The point is that people are molded according to two factors: 1)Their religion 2)Their geographic location You can find two completely different people having different tastes regarding food, clothing, living style and other things belonging to same religion.
This is because of their different geographic location.
They will celebrate their festivals in the same fashion, dress similarly for religious purposes but having totally different approach to the religion or life.
What I am trying to say is that a person's life is affected more because of his environment.
Religion plays its part but it is limited.
In the concluding part I want to say that in order to make this world a better place to live we must destroy all the barriers that segregate humans and try to understand the religion, cultures and history of the world in its true essence.
Only then we will realize how wrong we are right now.
