    • 1). Determine the missing tile or tiles given the distribution listed on the board (nine As, two Bs, etc.). An alternate way to do this is to create this message using all 100 tiles, created by tournament player Dan Stock (lower-case letters are blanks): YOU AND I JUDGE SCRABBLE AS OUR FAVORITE GAME WITH WILIER TOP EXpERTS HARMONIZING POINTS DEFENsE AND A LEAVE TOO.

    • 2). Contact Hasbro's customer service department at (888) 836-7025 or visit its website at hasbro.com/default.cfm?page=cs_parts. Make sure you know everything you can about the set, such as whether or not it's a deluxe edition. A representative should be able to get replacements sent. Canadians should call (450) 670-9820 or write to:

      Hasbro Direct Inc.

      C.P. 267, Succ. A

      Longueuil QC J4H 3X6

Mattel owns the Scrabble trademark outside of North America, so Hasbro can not supply replacement tiles for sets purchased abroad.

    • 3). Consider purchasing a set of plastic tiles. Unlike wooden tiles, plastic tiles can not be brailled and are the only kind of tiles acceptable in tournaments. The maker of Protiles, Bob Schoenman, guarantees that lost or defective tiles will be replaced free of charge forever, including covering the postage. As of September 2010, a set of Protiles cost as low as $20. Another tile manufacturer, Sam Kantimathi, sells SamTiles for as low as $15, with specials if tiles are ordered with other items. He also guarantees free replacement of lost tiles. Customizable SmoothTiles are also available.
