If you are considering a 7 person tent there are some things that you should be careful about. A 7 man tent can be a great way for the family to camp out. Using a tent to camp can get you into campgrounds and other places where an RV or trailer can't get into. However because you are packing the tent in and out, as well as your other gear, it is important that you choose the right tent for your family's needs.

One of the main things to consider when it comes to a 7 man tent is the style of tent. A 7 person tent can come in cabin styles, dome tents, as well as modular tents. Cabin style tents have a lot of standing head room, but can be a little more difficult to set up. A dome tent has flexible poles, and can be set up by just one or two people. Modular tents are similar to a dome tent, but have separate rooms that are connected to the larger room. These can be a good idea for separating your children from your own sleeping area, or to store your gear without being crowded together. Dome and modular tents are going to be the easiest to set up and tear down as well.

Another thing to consider when it comes to a 7 person tent is the materials the 7 man tent is made from. There are the old style canvas tents, but canvas is heavy and the poles needed to support them are usually aluminum or steel. This can be a real pain when it comes to moving the tent to and from your camp site. These days, canvas has been replaced with a high quality nylon, which is durable, yet super lightweight. Because of this, the poles have also been replaced with shock corded composite poles, which fold down easily and snap into place when needed. Some important things to note when choosing these tents is to make sure that the nylon tent is water proof, as well as has some kind of UV protective coating. This will prevent rain from coming into your tent, as well as keep the sun from making your tent fade.

You also want to make sure that your 7 person ten has an extra rain fly, and some of the extra accessories available are screened porches that are integrated with the tent. Your 7 man tent should also have a floor, which is not only reinforced, but comes up from the edge of the tent at least four inches. The rain fly should extend past the edges of the roof, and have a small space between the rain fly and the tent itself, so the moisture doesn't get through. Your tent should also have adequate ventilation, not just in the ceiling area, but with large windows that can bring in fresh air. Make sure these are fully screened, and have quick zippered closures in case it rains.

Many people have a limited budget these days, and may not be able to afford to spend thousands or dollars on some top of the line 7 person tent. Even so, you have to be careful about spending your money on a 7 man tent. You don't want to go with some cheap no name brand of tent, because it isn't going to be made with high quality materials, and won't last as long as if you would have just spent a little extra on a higher grade model. However, even so, you shouldn't have to spend more than three or four hundred dollars on a good quality tent. There are many excellent products available from a number of top quality manufacturer's that are well under five hundred dollars, some less than two hundred.
