Civilization Revolution Game FAQ
- "Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution" is the first game in the series to be personally designed by Sid Meier since the original "Civilization" in 1991. It was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS in 2008. An iPhone version was released in 2009. "Civilization Revolution" is a strategy game where players must build up a civilization starting with a single settler. Players must build cities, train units, research new technology, and explore the world to achieve this goal.
- "Civilization Revolution" is most similar to the original "Civilization" because both were designed by Sid Meier. The game removes much of the more complicated micromanagement aspects introduced in "Civilization 2," "Civilization 3" or "Civilization 4." This leads to a much faster game play than those installments of the game. The value of individual units is much greater due to the training system.
- There are four different ways to win a game in "Civilization Revolution." A domination victory is achieved by capturing every rival capital city. A culture victory is achieved by building the United Nations wonder after acquiring at least 20 great persons, world wonders or converted cities. An economic victory is achieved by building the World Band wonder after earning at least 20,000 gold. A technological victory is achieved by being the first civilization to reach Alpha Centauri.
- In order to reach Alpha Centauri, you must build a space shuttle by building the Apollo Project world wonder. This wonder requires that Space Flight be researched, which requires Advanced Flight, Nuclear Power and Electronics technology as prerequisites. The space shuttle will automatically be launched upon completing the wonder.
- The choice of civilization the player chooses to lead is more important in "Civilization Revolution" than in previous games. The bonuses are not so substantial that any individual civilization is too overpowered to be defeated, but the benefits are noticeable if used correctly. For example, England is very difficult to conquer early in the game due to the defense bonus given to Longbow units.
- Unlike previous games in the series, you do not improve production in "Civilization Revolution" by building improvements on the land. There are only two methods to improve production. The first is to build production improvements in a city. For example, building a Granary will allow you to harvest two extra food from any plain near the city. Civilization bonuses can also improve your production once you earn them. For example, Germany gets one extra production point from nearby forests after you reach the Medieval period.
