    • 1). Locate the back of the fog light assembly in the front bumper of your Dakota pickup. Access it from the rear of the front bumper, working from under the truck or through the wheel opening if you prefer.

    • 2). Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the bulb by depressing the locking tab on the connector and pulling it straight down. Lay it aside for now. Do not pull on the wires when removing the connector or you may break the wire or pull it out of the connector.

    • 3). Grasp the bulb by the plastic base and turn it counterclockwise one-quarter turn to unlock it from the fog light housing. Pull it straight back and out of the assembly. Discard the old bulb and replace it with a new 898-halogen bulb.

    • 4). Grasp the new bulb by the base, making sure not to handle the glass portion of the bulb, and slide it into the housing. Turn it clockwise one-quarter turn to lock it in place. Handling the glass on the bulb will cause it to crack after overheating and fail prematurely.

    • 5). Push the electrical connector onto the base of the bulb, making sure that it fully seats and the locking tab engages. Repeat this process on the second bulb on the opposite side of the truck. Test the lights by turning them on and visually verifying that both lights are functioning properly.
