How to Make a Strawberry Planter Using PVC
- 1). Make a rectangle by attaching two 4-foot sections of PVC pipe to two 2-foot sections of PVC pipe with 3-way corner connectors. Angle the project so the narrow side faces you.
- 2). Place a 1.5-foot section of pipe into each of the four upward-facing connector openings. Insert a T connector on the front two pipe sections, with the middle opening facing the back two pipe sections.
- 3). Fit an additional 1.5-foot section of pipe in the top of the T connectors. Attach an elbow connector on each and connect the elbow connectors with a 2-foot section of pipe.
- 4). Place a 4-way corner connector on the remaining 1.5-foot pipe sections. Connect the two connectors together with a 2-foot section of pipe. Connect the 4-way connector to the opposite T connectors with a 4-foot section of pipe.
- 5). Insert a 3-inch segment of pipe in the upward connector opening. Fit an elbow connector on top of this short section, and connect each elbow together with a 2-foot section of pipe. This extra attachment will help hold the planters in place.
- 6). Attach the large piece of plywood at an angle from the tall side of the base to the lower side. Glue it to the PVC pipes with a two part epoxy. Glue the smaller strips of plywood to the sides of the plywood sheet. These will also help hold the planters in place.
- 1). Use a permanent marker and measuring tape to mark 1-foot intervals on two 5-foot sections of PVC pipe. Cut a large, round hole (approximately 3 inches in diameter) at each interval.
- 2). Drill several small holes (1/4-inch or so in diameter) in the end of each cap. Place the cap on one end of the PVC pipe and secure with PVC cement. Fill each pipe with soil.
- 3). Place each planter on top of the plywood sheet. Plant the seeds in the soil through the round holes.
- 4). Water the plants by pouring water through the top end of the pipe. It will slowly trickle through the pipe and drain through the lower end.
