GE recalled approximately 174,000 of their Profile and Monogram dishwashers on October 26, 2010 because water condensation from the dishwasher may drip into the control panel, which may cause a short in the circuitry. This may result in an overheated connector which poses a fire hazard. Consumers are advised to stop using dishwashers immediately if the model number begins with PDW followed by 9200J, 9280J, 9800J, 9880J or DW9700J or your GE Monogram dishwasher model number begins with ZBD followed by 6800K00, 6800K01, 6800K03, 6800K10, 6880K00, 6880K01, 6880K03, 6880K10, 6890K00, 6890K01, 6890K03, 6890K10, 0700K00, 0700K01, 0700K03, 0700K10, 0710K00, 0710K01, 0710K03, or 0710K10. - In some models of GE front-loaders, a wire may break off and contact the metal parts of the tub during operation.David McNew/Getty Images News/Getty Images
On June 10, 2010 GE announced the recall of about 181,000 of its front-load washing machines due to the potential fire and shock hazards caused by a wire breaking inside the unit. Maytag recalled about 1.7 million dishwashers on June 3, 2010, due to a fire hazard caused by an electrical problem in the heating element. The recall includes several Maytag brands with serial numbers starting with NW39 through NW52 and NY01 through NY19. Consumers should stop using the dishwashers and contact Maytag to confirm that the unit is included in the recall. - On January 21, 2010 a previous recall by BSH Home Appliances Corp. was expanded from 42,000 Thermador built-in ovens recalled in June 2007 to include about 37,000 additional units. Ovens with model numbers C272B, C302B, SEC272, SEC302, SECD272 and SECD302 and serial numbers FD8403 through FD8701 are included in the expanded recall.
