How to Install the Honda Element Tent
- 1). Park the Honda Element on a smooth, level area, free of debris like sticks and rocks. Apply the parking brake. Open the tent about five feet behind the vehicle, and spread it out with the straps facing the back of the vehicle.
- 2). Assemble the two tent poles by joining each of the connected pieces together. Slide each pole through the sleeves attached to the roof of the tent. Place one end of a tent pole into a corner tent pin and place the other end of that tent pole into the opposite corner pin; then repeat with the second tent pole.
- 3). Attach the plastic clips from each corner seam of the tent around the tent poles.
- 4). Place the sock of the tent over the roof of the Element and around the sides. The magnetic strips on the sock hold the sock in place.
- 5). Unzip the door and screen that face the vehicle while inside the tent. Roll them up and secure them with the straps attached to the roof.
- 6). Stretch the bottom elastic strap around the bottom of the Element bumper. Make sure the exhaust pipe is outside of the tent. Attach the lower outside straps to the rear bumper and tighten. Attach the upper outside straps across the vehicle roof to the roof rack or hood hinge and tighten.
- 7). Stake down the tent by putting a tent stake through each corner floor tab. Place the rain fly over the tent with the awning section over the front door. Attach each rain fly hook to the loops next to the tent pins. Wrap the hook-and-loop tabs from the fly around the tent poles to hold in place.
- 8). Insert one awning pole through a corner awning grommet. Put the ring of the stake guide rope over the top of the awning pole and stake down the other end. Repeat with the other awning pole. Adjust awning poles to desired height and tighten.
