    Ghost Stories

    • Set up a tent in your backyard or turn off the lights in a quiet part of your house or basement for a spooky sweet 16 game. If you are setting up a tent in your backyard, decorate it with artificial cobwebs and plastic spiders. Let each player take turns holding a flashlight or a candle while she tells a ghost story. Play eerie music softly in the background to intensify the effect of the stories.

    Karaoke

    • Karaoke is a popular activity for people of all ages. Rent or purchase a table-top karaoke machine or purchase or download karaoke software to your computer. Karaoke CDs and DVDs are available in many stores or online that allow you to add your own lyrics. Your child and her guests at the party can read the words to songs on a screen while singing along to the instrumental version of the song. This will provide hours of enjoyment as well as a memorable sweet 16 party.

    Water Balloon Truth or Dare

    • Playing truth or dare may sound boring, but spice it up with water balloons to cool off a summertime sweet 16 party. Let the players form a circle and arm them with a large supply of water balloons. When it is someone's turn to play, have all the players toss water balloons at her while she answers the question or performs the dare. If she is hit by a water balloon, she is out of the game and the other players continue to play. When the game is down to two girls, they can constantly throw water balloons at one another, but if one of them catches the other girl's balloon, she automatically wins.

    Homemade Water Slide

    • If your child's sweet 16 birthday falls on a warm spring or summer day, you can incorporate water activities into the day's celebration. A sprinkler and several heavy-duty trash bags cut along the seam can provide an instant water park that will help the birthday festivities come alive. Find a clear area on your lawn and line up several large trash bags that have been cut and stretched out. Use strong tape to secure each bag to one another and lay the bags on the taped sides. Place a sprinkler at the top of the row of bags and allow the entire slide to become wet. Baby oil can be spread on the bags as well to help lubricate the slide. Be sure that the bottom area of the slide is free from any debris or items that could be dangerous to slide on to.
