Guide Review - Game Review: 'Rock Band'
Rock Band and its recent sequel are some of the best mock-musician games around – and the mobile version does them justice. The goal is to touch the four colored buttons in sync to the music. You can play one of four roles in the band: lead or bass guitar, drums or vocals. The extremely popular – and rightfully so – Tap Tap Revenge series has been doing this on the mobile for months, but Rock Band brings extra polish to the genre. The cool aspects include jamming with friends via Bluetooth, in-game song purchases and audio/visuals straight from the home series. The controls are simple and responsive. Two problems with Rock Band: one, unlike the home version, you don’t actually sing for vocals – you tap – and two, there are only ten songs included and additional songs must be purchased a la cart. With the iPhone/iPod Touch version retailing $9.99 at launch, getting all the songs would cost you a pretty penny.
That said, fans of the original series will be super happy with this conversion.
