  • Some studies have indicated a certain degree of success using several different types of antidepressants.
    These success levels have been largely inconsistent leading many top researchers specializing in trichotillomania to believe that this hair pulling disorder has little or nothing to do with depression.
      Most of these specialists believe that the antidepressants only work effectively on those who do not suffer from trichotillomania but are instead practicing a type of self mutilation as a result of being depressed.
  • Some successful studies indicate the use of antidepressants such as Fluoxetine (Prozac) can in fact aid patients in overcoming this habit more rapidly when used in conjunction with habit reversal therapy.
