Stop Panic Attacks and End the Fear of Heart Attacks

For most people who are trying to stop panic attacks, one of the most beneficial things that can be done is to overcome the individual anxiety-based fears.
And arguably the greatest fear experienced by someone with severe anxiety is the fear of having a heart attack.
It's an understandable fear, since so many of the physical symptoms caused by panic and anxiety appear to affect the heart.
The best way to stop this fear, and therefore the best way to stop panic attacks themselves, is to break down the physical symptoms that your anxiety leads you to believe are signs of a heart attack.
First up, palpitations.
This is when your heartbeat quickens (or, in some cases, appears to quicken).
You may also be able to feel your heartbeat in various parts of your body during palpitations.
The reason you have palpitations when you're highly anxious is because your body has released adrenaline into your system, which immediately causes your heartbeat to quicken.
This can be scary, but reassure yourself that the adrenaline is to blame.
Next up, numbness or tingling.
This is any loss of sensation, usually in your hands and feet.
Many people with anxiety who experience numbness or tingling in their arms fear it's a sign of a heart attack.
But the true cause in most cases is nothing more than shallow breathing, which is common when you're anxious, and can lead to incorrect oxygen levels around your body - causing numbness or tingling.
These are two of the most common physical symptoms that people with anxiety fear is a sign of a heart attack.
As you can see, though, in almost all cases the cause is something harmless.
Remind yourself of this the next time you experience these symptoms, and you'll be far more likely to be able to stop panic attacks.
