Do You Want to Boost Your Memory? Here's How

101 21
Have you entered the world of ‘thingies' or ‘whatchamacallit'?  Did you put the coffee in the fridge and the milk in the cupboard? Did you go inside the room only to wonder why you went there in the first place?  Did you miss a meeting simply because you've forgotten it? Do you feel you need to boost your memory?

Don't worry you're not alone.  It is not a start of Alzheimer's either.  You're certainly not getting old age dementia.

Your brain is just overloaded with information.  When your brain is full, it sorts data out according to importance.  Therefore, we forget things.  If you are not concentrating on your task or the information you received, the brain will record it as less important and will put that information to one side.  So, you forget it.  If you stop and concentrate, it retrieves the information and you remember.

If there are so many thoughts to sort in your brain, it will process it one at a time.  If there is a lot of information, the process slows down.  Think of your brain as a computer, if you open so many files and do multiple tasks at the same time it slows down dramatically and sometimes crashes.

Forgetfulness can make you less productive.  Boost your brainpower and improve your productivity.  Here are some simple tips to boost your memory.

Memorise phone numbers

Like all other parts of your body, you need to exercise to your brain to keep it healthy and working at maximum level.  Mobile phones and electronic diary have a lot to answer for in your inability to remember.  Today, most information such as numbers and addresses that we use to memorise are now stored in mobile phones and electronic diary; therefore we tend to be lazy and don't try to remember them.

Remembering and memorising address, lists or numbers help exercise the brain.  Solving puzzles, like memory games also stimulates the mind.  So make sure you incorporate these in your daily routine.

Go for a brisk walk

Aerobic exercise like walking, cycling, swimming and dancing improve the circulation to the brain and consequently boost your memory by 20 to 30 percent.

Sleep

Finally, getting a good night sleep is very important.  It regenerates your brainpower, boost your memory, makes you more alert and able to concentrate more.
