DIY: Wire Straighter
- 1). Put on your safety goggles, in case the wire snaps during the straightening process. Clasp one end of the length of wire with a strong pair of pliers if the wire is shorter than 4 feet. If the wire is longer than 4 feet, insert the end of the wire into a vice and secure it firmly.
- 2). Clasp the other end of the wire with a pair of pliers.
- 3). Use the pliers to pull the wire taut. Hold the firmly in the vice or second pair of pliers before gradually applying more pulling power. This will gradually work out some of the larger kinks, but there may be some small irregularities.
- 4). Let the wire go slack for a few moments and snap it taut again by pulling it quickly. Again, wear your safety goggles. Verify that the other end of the wire is firmly secured before doing this. Doing this procedure several times will work out the remaining kinks and bends in the wire.
