How to Remove a 1997 Chevrolet 2500 Van Heater Core

    • 1). Open the van's hood and use a socket wrench to remove the negative battery cable.

    • 2). Remove the bolts from the side panel on the right side of the dashboard. Use a slotted screwdriver to pry off the right rear quarter panel trim, then lift up the dashboard as much as you can.

    • 3). Use a slotted screwdriver to remove the right rear wheel house liner.

    • 4). Disconnect the hoses from the heater core. Unplug its electrical connector and remove the drain valve. All can be removed by pulling them off.

    • 5). Remove the screws securing the heater case cover. Remove the cover and lift the heater core out of the van.
