"Counter-Strike: Source" Tricks

    Communicate

    • Stay in contact with your team with effective use of voice communication. This can be done via the in-game voice chat or with a third-party chat program. Let your team know where the enemy is, what sort of weapons they have and if they have an important objective item, such as the bomb or hostages. Your teammates who are still alive will not be able to hear you when you die if you use the in-game voice system or type comments.

    Know The Weapons

    • Each weapon behaves radically different in "Counter-Strike: Source" so it is good to stick with two or three that you can learn to use. The default assault rifle for each team is the M4A1 for the counter-terrorists and the CV47 for the terrorists. With these weapons it is always best to fire in short bursts of two to three shots, rather than holding the trigger down and dealing with the recoil. When you are low on money, a high-power pistol like the Desert Eagle is a cheap weapon that can still give you the edge in some situations.

    Save Resources

    • Managing your finances is a huge aspect because it limits what equipment you can purchase at the start of a round. Money is linked to how well your team performed in the previous round, based on whether you completed the objective or killed all enemies. When you have low funds, don't buy any equipment and use the default kit for a round or two. This will mean that you can buy what you need next time. If it looks like you are going to lose the objective or run out of time, find somewhere to lay low until the next round to keep all of your equipment.

    Bind Keys

    • To save time when the match starts it is possible to set a key that will buy equipment for you instantly if you have enough money for it. Go to the "Options" menu and click on the "Keyboard" tab. Under "Advanced" tick "Enable Developer Console" and press the "Tilde" key to open up the developer console. Type in "bind" followed by the key you want bound and the weapon you want to buy. For example: "bind 'o' 'buy deadle'" will purchase a Desert Eagle when the "o" key is pressed.
