The Pioneer Electronics Premier DEH-P770MP head unit is an all-in-one front end for an in-car entertainment system. Integrating a CD player and MP3 decoder with an amplifier and radio tuner, this unit also offers the ability to control a CD changer, DVD player, XM satellite radio tuner and even a television. - The four-channel amplifier in the DEH-P770MP can continuously output 22 watts per channel from 50 to 15,000 hertz at five percent total harmonic distortion or less. Its output for brief musical peaks can be as much as 50 watts per channel, or 50 watts into two channels and 70 watts into a subwoofer. Its maximum power over its line level jacks is 2.2 volts.
- Pioneer equips the DEH-P770MP with a number of tone controls. Its three-band parametric equalizer has switchable frequencies in the bass, midrange and treble, and can provide up to 12 decibels of boost or cut. This head unit also features a loudness control for enhanced sound quality at low volumes, as well as bass and treble controls. Subwoofers are also supported through its built-in low-pass crossover with switchable crossover frequency, adjustable gain and an 18-decibel-per-octave slope.
- The CD player in the DEH-P770MP plays compact audio discs with a 94 decibel signal-to-noise ratio and 92 decibels of dynamic range. In addition to regular music CDs, the DEH-P770MP can also handle CD-ROM discs on which MP3, WMA or AAC files have been stored. This allows a great deal more music to fit on a disc.
- Both AM and FM digital tuners are built into the DEH-P770MP. The FM tuner maintains 45 decibels of stereo channel separation, 65 decibels of signal-to-noise ratio, and has no more than 0.3 percent total harmonic distortion with a stereo signal. The AM tuner tunes the full AM frequency range from 530 to 1710 kilohertz, and maintains a 67 decibel signal-to-noise ratio.
- The DEH-P770MP head unit is 7 inches wide, 2 inches tall and 6 1/8 inches deep. Its face is slightly larger at 7 3/8 inches wide, 2 1/4 inches tall and 3/4 inch deep. It requires a 14.4-volt power supply with negative ground and can draw up to 10 amps of power.
