What Is the Apple Jailbreak?
- There are jailbreak methods available for all versions of iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Users of Apple TV 2G are able to jailbreak their devices as well, as the 2G iteration marked the introduction of the iOS operating system to that device.
- Jailbreaking an iOS device will void the device's warranty offered through Apple because it exposes the phone to elements outside Apple's control. Users of jailbroken devices can install applications that would not normally be approved for sale through Apple's App Store.
- Since the introduction of the iOS in 2007, a number of jailbreaking methods have been made available. The need for varying methods has been driven by Apple-based software updates to iOS, often closing the security exploit that the most recent jailbreaking method to date had been using, and thus prompting the need to look for a new workaround.
