How to Input an iPhone's External Microphone
- 1). Remove any protective wrapping or external cases from the microphone's plug. This will look like the plug for a pair of headphones.
- 2). Insert the plug into the iPhone's headphone jack, which is on the left side of the top of the phone.
- 3). Open the app with which you wish to record, such as Voice Memo or FourTrack. Some apps may require that you set up the microphone, but most allow you to begin recording immediately. Run a test recording to be sure the mic is working, and the sound quality is adequate. Adjust the volume as necessary.
