How to Remove a Jeep Wrangler's Traction Bars
- 1). Crawl underneath the Jeep and locate the traction bars, which are long metal tubes with a pivoting joint on the frame and the axle. Unbolt the traction bar at the axle using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Knock the bolts out of the mounts with a hammer.
- 2). Unbolt the traction bar mounts at the frame using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Knock out the bolts from the frame mount with a hammer.
- 3). Pull the traction bars out of the rear suspension and away from the vehicle.
