    • 1). Start the engine and ride the bike until the engine reaches normal operating temperature. Park the vehicle on firm, level ground. Have a helper mount the bike and hold it upright.

    • 2). Loosen and remove five torx screws from the clutch's inspection cover plate with a torx driver. Remove the plate and o-ring by hand. Discard the used cover plate o-ring.

    • 3). Place a catch pan under the primary chaincase drain plug located towards the rear of the primary chaincase.

    • 4). Remove the chaincase drain plug and o-ring with a wrench. Inspect the o-ring for damage or wear. Replace if necessary. Drain the chaincase lubricant from the chaincase.

    • 5). Remove any metal salt from the drain plug magnet with a clean shop rag. Install the drain plug and o-ring into the drain hole. Tighten the drain plug to 14 to 21 pound-feet of torque with a pound-foot torque wrench and socket.

    • 6). Add 38 oz. of new chaincase lubricant to the chaincase via the clutch inspection cover hole. Remove all old lubricant from the sealing-ring groove in the clutch inspection cover with a clean shop rag.

    • 7). Position the new inspection cover plate o-ring in its groove in the inspection cover plate. Ensure that the o-ring nubs contact the ring groove walls. Place the inspection cover plate in position over the inspection hole then install the five retaining screws.

    • 8). Tighten the screws to 84 to 108 pound-inches of torque with a pound-inch torque wrench and Torx driver. Torque the screws in a specific pattern starting with the screw at the 12 o'clock position. Tighten the 12 o'clock screw, the 7 o'clock screw, the 2 o'clock screw, the 10 o'clock screw and, lastly, the 5 o'clock screw.

    • 9). Clean up any spilled lubricant with a clean shop rag.
