How to Make a Visual Journal

    • 1). Brainstorm on the type of visual journal you would like to create, whether it is season-specific or a daily journal of everything that happened in your life. Other visual journals include creating a new baby, birthday party, wedding or vacation-themed journal.

    • 2). Gather the supplies you would like to use for creating your visual journal, beginning with a blank photo or scrapbook album (available at craft stores) along with colorful and themed printed paper to include within the book itself.

    • 3). Organize all of the craft supplies you have including stickers, stamps and stencils for ease of use and viewing when you begin creating.

    • 4). Cut photos and article titles/headers from newspapers, magazines and books of yours to place in your visual journal. Lay your photos, cut graphics and headers in an organized pile.

    • 5). Organize your photos and images in the order you would like them to appear in your visual journal (by date or by event, depending on the type of journal you are designing). Laying the photos and images out as you would like them to appear by creating a demo page before pasting the pictures will help speed the process of creating along. Gather the stickers, stamps and stencils you would like for each page of photos to keep better track of your current choices and options.

    • 6). Add the themed paper to your visual journal using blank slots or by pasting the paper using glue.

    • 7). Place the photos onto each set of paper individually as you have planned using your "demo" layout sheets. Include various stickers and stamps that are relevant to the page. Add headline and newspaper text to convey thoughts, dates and event titles in your visual journal without typing or writing them yourself.
