    • 1). Place the dowel standing straight up in the pot. Mix the plaster of Paris according to the directions on the package. Fill the urn with plaster to 1 inch from the top. Use strips of masking tape across the top of the pot to hold the dowel upright until the plaster dries. Allow it to dry overnight. Remove the tape.

    • 2). Press a foam sphere down onto the dowel. Floral foam balls are available at craft and floral supply stores. Buy the type designed for silk and dried flowers. Be sure to go straight through the center of the ball. Remove the ball and apply hot glue to the dowel, then put the ball on the dowel again. Hold the ball it in place until the glue sets, about two minutes. The top of the sphere dowel should be 8 inches below the top of the dowel.

    • 3). Press the second ball halfway onto the top of the dowel. There should be 4 inches of dowel showing between the two balls. Remove the ball, apply glue to the top of the dowel and replace the ball.

    • 4). Cut the stems on your flowers one-half-inch long. Apply a small amount of glue to the stem of each flower, and insert the stems into the foam balls, distributing them evenly. Cover both balls completely with flowers.

    • 5). Cut a circle of sheet moss the same size as the top opening of the urn. Cut a slit from the edge to the center of the circle. Place the circle of moss over the plaster, with the dowel going through the slit. This covers the plaster.
