iPod 2 iPod Review, Software to Transfer Music from iPod to Computer
The Bottom Line
There's not much to recommend iPod 2 iPod. It's abominably slow, converts filetypes without asking, loses song names, and doesn't offer common features. To make matters worse, it's the second most-expensive program of its kind that I've tested. Look elsewhere.

Too Slllloooowwwww
IPod 2 iPod is far and away the slowest program that transfers music from iPod to computer that I've tested. In my standard test--590 songs/2.41 GB--the program took 1 hour, 20 minutes to complete a transfer that lacked star ratings and playcounts to boot. To date, the second-slowest program I've tested, Media Widget, took 48 minutes. Big difference.
In looking at the results of the transfer, I noticed that iPod 2 iPod had moved 630 songs, which seems odd given that I only had 590 to move. In investigating this further, I discovered that the program had converted some songs that had been in AAC format to MP3 during the transfer and moved both copies of the file.
This probably explains the long time it took to complete the transfer. Why the program would do this, though, eludes me. I couldn't find a setting that would allow me to turn this off.
To make matters worse, some files transferred with mangled data. Songs that previously had standard names, were renamed during the transfer to things like "a981122a04f7d04922."
I also encountered an error window every time I connected a new device telling me that things weren't working right. However, when I dismissed the error, everything seemed to be fine.
Few Features
Like TuneAid, iPod 2 iPod doesn't offer any features outside of music transfer. It can't move videos, calendars, ringtones, text messages, or any of the other kinds of data that more advanced programs in this category can.
Conclusions
Until it's modified, look elsewhere. IPod to iPod is simply too slow, too confusing, and too high-priced (At $39.95, it's $15-$20 more than most comparable programs).
