Commit to attending a meeting. Although it can be a difficult step, committing to the first meeting of the support group is necessary to begin the process.

Allow yourself time to get used to the support group. Don't push yourself to deal with difficult feelings before you feel fully ready. Remind yourself that the support group is a safe space for you to deal with tough emotions.

Listen to the other members of the support group and allow yourself to take comfort in their healing processes.

Look into online support groups. If the thought of a face-to-face support group is too overwhelming, seek out an online support community that might be less daunting.

Seek the services of a therapist if you feel the need for more support in your grieving process.
