Decorating with Silk Grasses

One less well known but interesting and attractive way to decorate your house is to use arrangements with artificial grass. If you plan to have a Western or desert-like element to your house, or to one of the rooms, you might want to consider silk grass arrangements. Silk grass designs are closer in size to flower arrangements than to silk trees and plants. They also make great accents for some of the larger greenery. Another place you may put silk grass is by indoor water fountains and along windows. Choosing to use silk grasses allows you to step outside the typical decorative modes and try something new and invigorating. Silk grass is just one more way to add new elements and designs to your beautiful home.

Wedding Flower Dcor

Weddings are one of the most beautiful and exciting events in anyones lifetime. One of the best ways to add beauty to the wedding is to add flowers. Flowers can be used not only as decorations but as part of the ensemble for many people in the wedding. For women, there are corsages; men display boutonnieres, and of course, the bride carries her wedding bouquet. Garlands, shrubbery, centerpieces, vases, trellises and many more places often use flowers as adornments. With such a great responsibility as coordinating the wedding flower decorations, you will need to break the process up into manageable stages. As you decide what the overall style of the wedding will be, think about the color, then the types of flowers to be used, followed by possible designs for arrangements. The color is usually a very simple decision as the bride will already be choosing the color or colors for the wedding. When it comes to choosing which types of flowers will be used, the bride may have some strong preferences there. Roses are a very traditional choice. Though the styles for arranging are incredibly numerous, if you stick to two or three designs, no matter how traditional or unique they are, the overall look of the wedding will be enhanced with a degree of continuity. If you follow these steps, you will do a great job regardless of how practiced you are!

Making and Displaying Wreaths

Wreaths are one of the easiest ways to add some flair to your porch. There are many ways to be creative when you make a wreath: the combinations of colors, shapes, and themes or styles lead to endless possibilities. You just need a foam ring and some silk flowers to get started. Take the flowers and cut off the stems about one inch from the calyx, or bottom of the flower. Then push the stems of each flower into the ring. A key to an attractive wreath is to make sure that the flowers are grouped closely enough so that the foam does not show through, but not so close that the flowers are crammed. Your wreath will last a very long time if you use a hot glue gun to add small amounts of glue where the base of the flower touches the ring. Adding leaves or vines to your wreath works well for extra decoration or for covering up bare spots. You can theme your wreath to the time of year, or use regional flowers for a more local look. Finally, choose what part of the wreath you want on top and tie a string around that area so that you can hang it on the door.

Wreath Storage

Wreaths are a beautiful and welcoming way to decorate your house, especially for holidays. There are so many wreath options and so many different seasons that any creative crafter can easily feel overrun with them. There are several efficient, organized ways to keep your wreaths stored until you need them. You can actually reuse your wreaths! You can do so by having only one wreath and changing or rotating the decorations you display on it. When creating a reusable wreath, you will want a strong foundation. You can attach your flowers or other designs to the wreath using a small amount of glue, a large amount of tape, or a weaving pattern that holds everything together. This technique allows you to cut down on storage space without throwing away or wrecking your wreaths. You can keep several varieties and colors of flowers in one box instead of having 12 or 14 different boxes of wreaths in your garage. However, if you do prefer having wreaths ready-to-hang, plastic containers or a hanging shelf works well. Make sure you do choose a storage method that does not flatten your flowers.
