How to Install an Antenna Radial

    • 1). Set up the antenna on an open piece of land by placing the antenna on a ground plate. Tighten the antenna to the plate via the clamp.

    • 2). Wrap the end of a length of radial wire to the base of the antenna and run it outward, so it is perpendicular to the antenna. Make sure that the length of wire is no shorter than the antenna is tall.

    • 3). Run three more radial wires out from the base of the antenna, so that the four wires are all at right angles to one another. A minimum of four radial wires is necessary for optimum antenna performance.

    • 4). Dig a hole about an inch deep in the ground under the wires and bury the wires in the hole. If you can't dig a hole in this particular area, there is no need to panic. This is mostly to avoid damage to the wires by pedestrians or lawn equipment, so you don't have to have the wires buried underground.
