    • 1). Repackage your ready-to-eat foods before storing them in the refrigerator. These foods typically come in cheap packaging with ineffective seals. Move the food to plastic storage bags or sealed containers to help it last longer.

    • 2). Keep your ready-to-eat food in the back of the refrigerator, where temperatures are the coldest, to extend the life of your food.

    • 3). Pick up the ready-to-eat foods last during your grocery trip. This will ensure they spend as little time in your cart and out of the refrigerator as possible.

    • 4). Put your ready-to-eat-foods in the refrigerator as soon as you get home. The longer they sit out, the faster they will spoil.

    • 5). Keep your refrigerator at or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure all of your food lasts as long as possible.

    • 6). Leave extra room in your refrigerator. Packing it too tight will prevent cold air from circulating to all of the food.

    • 7). Open the door as little as possible to keep all of the cold air inside your refrigerator.
