    • 1). Remove the negative terminal from your vehicle's battery. This step can prevent electrical damage, such as a short circuit.

    • 2). Cut one length of speaker wire using the wire cutters. This is the wire that will connect your subwoofer to your amplifier.

    • 3). Strip three-eights of an inch of insulation off both ends of the speaker wire to reveal the copper wiring.

    • 4). Crimp a spade connector to one end of the speaker wire over the copper wiring. The spade connector will hook into the back of your subwoofer.

    • 5). Slide the spade connector onto your subwoofer's terminal.

    • 6). Separate the other end of your speaker wire so that the positive and negative polarities have enough room to connect to their respective polarities on the amplifier. Speaker wire splits down the middle easily and you don't need any tools to perform this step.

    • 7). Connect the positive side of the speaker wire to the positive plug-in on the amplifier. Connect the negative side of the speaker wire to the negative plug-in on the amplifier.
