Did I Have a Panic Attack?
Panic attacks can manifest in two ways.
A sufferer can feel a physical attack as well as a grueling mental disturbance.
Physical symptoms 1.
It was discovered that the amygdala, which is fear center of the brain, is highly sensitive to very unfamiliar stimuli; and since this part of the brain controls emotion, memory and fear, as well as heart rate, breathing and blood pressure, when a patient suddenly encounters a stimuli, the amygdala can bring about an attack.
2.
The attacks can also be attributed to an imbalance of the message-transmitting brain chemicals such as serotonin, gamma-aminobutyric acid, dopamine and epinephrine.
3.
Also it is suggested that 50% of the panic attacks symptoms that manifest in a patient can be inherited from the family.
Mental symptoms 1.
A sufferer claims to feel intense dread or the feeling of losing control or dying.
They can also feel a little restless, jumpy, tense and unable to concentrate.
Some claim to have suicidal thoughts and some feel as though he is alone and lonely.
They are troubled with paranoia and are often scared because they think that people believe they are crazy.
Both the physical and mental symptoms need not be a burden.
A person can continue to live his life as long as certain steps are taken to be able to remedy the situation.
Often times having ample knowledge about the disease will be helpful but most of the time, attending ten to twelve weeks of cognitive behavioral therapy and medication is important.
