Cry Holy - SONICFLOOd
About.com Rating
The Bottom Line
Sadly, Cry Holy was a big disappointment for me. My hope is that once the band gets used to the changes (Jeff Deyo leaving and Rick taking the mic), they will come back bigger and better.
Pros
- The songs themselves are good worship songs
Cons
- The music sounds flat to me without the energy I've come to expect from SonicFlood
- No Jeff Deyo
Description
- Style: Contemporary Praise and Worship

Guide Review - Cry Holy - SONICFLOOd
I used to really like SONICFLOOd. They kick-started praise and worship music. They covered some of my favorite songs and gave them something extra that made me want to get on my feet and praise. When the band started losing members I didn't worry, I thought the sound would either stay the same or even get better. This CD makes me think that I should have worried. The sound is nothing like what you think of when you hear the name Sonic Flood. The high energy that used to accompany their music is gone ... like someone pulled the power plug. I don't understand it and hope that it's just a passing phase that will pass quickly, or that they just had a really off time in the studio. If you really like praise and worship music, no matter how it's performed, then you'll do well to get this CD. But if you like your P & W to have enough spunk to get you on your feet, don't waste your money. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the next release ... after all, they are SONICFLOOd!
