    • 1). As with any home organization project, you first should categorize what it is you need to organize. A clothespin-style organizer can work very well for some kitchen items. Recipes, rubber spatulas and a variety of baking instruments, including measuring cups and spoons, can all easily hang from clothespins. Measure out the space you have available for your cooking utensil holder. If you expect the clothesline and clothespins to bear significant weight, you should plan to mount your clothesline into wall studs.

    • 2). How you mount your clothesline may vary depending upon the length of the clothesline and the space in your kitchen. A long clothesline may need to be secured at both ends and further supported with simple cup hooks screwed into the wall. The hardware you use to hang your cooking utensil holder can consist of simple large gauge screws and knots or more elaborate and stylish hardware from the drapery section at your local home store. Use drywall anchors as needed when hanging your clothespin organizer.

    • 3). If you would prefer not to use clothesline for your clothespin kitchen organizer, you might consider using a piece of lumber as the basis of the kitchen organizer. In this case, take a piece of wood the size you prefer or have lumber cut at your local home supply center. You will likely want to finish the wood in a manner to coordinate with your kitchen, either by painting or varnishing. Sealing with polyurethane will keep your kitchen clothespin organizer look better.

    • 4). You may also want to paint your clothespins. Again, as with the wood panel, consider taking time to seal the clothespins. A spray sealer available at your local home center or craft store can be a good idea to make for easier cleanup. Choose a color that coordinates well with your kitchen decor, and keep in mind that lighter colors may show dirt and grime more easily.

    • 5). If you are using a clothesline for your kitchen clothespin organizer, simply clip your clothespins to the line and use them to hold up your cooking instruments and kitchen utensils. If you are using a wood panel as the basis for your kitchen utensil organizer, use a strong adhesive to attach the clothespins to the finished wood panel. An epoxy-based glue is ideal for this project; although most glues will work. Be sure to allow adequate time for the glue to dry before proceeding.

    • 6). Hang your clothespin kitchen utensil organizer with mounting hardware. You can buy a variety of hangers of various sorts at any home center, so choose an option that will hold the weight of the kitchen utensils easily. Your new kitchen utensil organizer will work great for holding baking instruments, stir fry utensils and more. You might even want to make one for your pantry, mudroom or laundry room to hold papers from school, mittens and gloves or other necessities.
