Games for Christian Fall Festival
- Taking advantage of the freshly harvested fall hay can help to create a fun-filled game for a Christian fall festival. To set up a "Needle in a Haystack" booth, festival coordinators should gather several bales of hay and scatter it about in large piles. Once the hay is laid out, coordinators can hide small Christian-themed prizes like plastic cross rings, "What Would Jesus Do?" bracelets, and pencils and stamps with religious messages in the haystacks. To play "Needle in a Haystack," children search through the hay until they find a prize.
- Bean bag toss is a classic carnival game and can easily be adapted to make an entertaining game for a Christian fall festival. To create the bean bag toss target, festival coordinators can make a large pumpkin or scarecrow cutout of either plywood or sturdy foam board. Paint and decorate the cutout, then cut holes to throw the bean bags through. To play bean bag toss, coordinators should draw a line an appropriate distance from the cutout for players to throw their bean bags from. (This distance can vary depending on the age of the players.) Players who manage to throw one of their bean bags through a hole in the cutout win a Christian-themed prize like those used in the "Needle in a Haystack" game.
- No fall festival would be complete without a bobbing-for-apples booth, a fun game for a Christian fall festival that is appropriate for all ages. To set up a bobbing-for-apples booth, coordinators need only gather a large metal tub and fill it with water and plenty of small apples. Players take turns using only their mouths to snag an apple, and any player who manages to get an apple wins a prize. It's a good idea to keep towels on hand for drying off wet faces and to wipe up any major spills or splashes.
- A cake walk also makes an exciting game that can be played by festival-goers of all ages. Festival coordinators should request fall-themed baked goods for prizes like apple or pumpkin pies and pumpkin-shaped cookies. To prepare the cake-walk area coordinators should place 10 pumpkins, numbered one through 10, in a large circle. Players then walk from pumpkin to pumpkin while Christian music is played on a stereo. When the music stops the players stop. Then coordinators draw a number and whoever is standing at the pumpkin with that number on it wins one of the yummy prizes.
