    • 1). Insert the flat, wide end of the iPod cable into the dock connector located at the bottom of your iPod. Insert the other end of the cable into your computer's empty FireWire or USB port.

    • 2). Click the "iTunes" icon on your Macintosh screen's dock to open iTunes, or open the Applications folder in Finder and double-click the "iTunes" icon.

    • 3). Click the iPod tab located under the Devices section of the iTunes sidebar. Click the "Restore" button on the main iTunes window.

    • 4). Select the first restore option, "Restore" and wait for the iTunes program to erase your iPod's hard disk and restore the original settings.

    • 5). Click the "Music" tab in the main iTunes window and check the box next to "Sync Music" and select "Entire music library" or "Selected playlists, artists, and genres." Check the boxes next to the playlists you want to add to your iPod, and click the "Apply" button in the lower-right corner of the iTunes program window to add media back to your iPod.
