Sprague while Waldorf Hotel stood between both the houses. The venue was initially named the Waldorf Theater initially but was later changed to Strand and Whitney before being it was finally given its current name. Sir Ivor Novello stayed in one of the flat above venue between 1913 and 1951 and that is why its present owners chose to name the house in his honour.
