How to Troubleshoot a Rebel XTi

1). Remove and recharge the camera's battery. Digital cameras use a lot of power, and if the battery is low or not holding a proper charge, this could be the cause of your problems.
2). Clean the battery contacts on both the camera and the battery itself using a pencil with a clean eraser on the end of it. Gently rub the eraser across the metal contacts to remove any grime that may have collected on the contacts.
3). Remove and replace the compact flash memory card, and ensure it is firmly in place.
4). Remove the lens that is attached to the camera, and clean the metal contacts on the lens and camera. Use the same method to clean these contacts that you used to clean the battery contacts.
