How to Clean a Pendleton Woolen Blanket

    • 1). Check the tag. If it instructs you to dry clean, do not attempt to wash it yourself. According to Pendleton, washing a dry-clean-only blanket can result in significant shrinkage. The blanket may also become more stiff or dense. Always send the blanket to a dry cleaner's unless the tag states “washable.”

    • 2). Place a washable Pendleton wool blanket in the washing machine. Add more or less liquid detergent, depending on how large the blanket is. Follow the detergent's directions for the proper amount. Using powdered detergents may sometimes leave residue on a large blanket; use liquid detergent for best results. Set the washing machine to a cold, gentle cycle.

    • 3). Drape the blanket on a clothes drying rack, and allow it to thoroughly air-dry.
